How Does it Happen?

A TPE sex doll vagina may be elastic, but it is not invincible or indestructible. Also, unlike an actual human vagina, if an injury occurs, it cannot and will not heal itself, and will need to be repaired by the sex doll’s human companion, or an individual skilled in such repairs. Damage can and will occur under the following conditions:

  • Inadequate, or complete omission of proper lubricant during sex.
  • Large penises
  • Frequent, rough, or violent/extreme sex.
  • Stretching the vaginal orifice excessively/over-stretching.
  • Insertion of cleaning tools that if not used carefully, protrude, and lacerate the vaginal cavity.
  • Blend quality

What Can You Do About It?

Two options are the obvious choice: repair or replace. You can repair it yourself, have a skilled individual specializing in sex doll repair fix it for you, or replace your sex doll’s entire body. Only let’s focus on the repair aspect, shall we? Eventually, every sex doll, no matter how excellent they are cared for, will become damaged. It is strongly advised that anyone who brings a sex doll into their home learn basic repair skills. It is my hope that you walk away from this article with more knowledge, or at least a greater understanding on the subject of TPE sex doll vagina repair.

Vagina Repair

What Tools Do You Need for Repair?

TPE Solvent

Coeros’ TPE Solvent (Glue) is a clear solvent contained in a glass container with an application brush within the lid.
What is it?

TPE solvent is a solvent mixture containing xylene and/or toluene that will melt and re-bond TPE together. It is a clear liquid and sent by manufacturers with a TPE sex doll as part of an accessories package and is only recommended for small and shallow damaged areas of the vagina. TPE solvent is a chemical that can cause harm to the respiratory system if proper ventilation equipment and techniques are not used. Coeros sells their own blend of TPE Solvent here.

How to Use

Lightly brush a thin layer of TPE solvent onto the edges of the damaged area, starting at the inner-most point and press the edges together. Continue the process to the outer edge of the repair and surface of the TPE sex doll’s body and allow to fully cure anywhere between 12 and 24 hours. You can use the small brush attached to the lid of the bottle or a small, thin metal spatula to apply to the damaged area. It is not recommended to interact with your doll during the cure time, as the repair can come undone and would require another repair session.

Warnings

Always work in a well-ventilated area and utilize a chemical or as referenced at 2.1.6 Protective Face Mask, painters face mask when working with TPE Solvent. Nitrile gloves are optional, but you do not want to get this on your skin. Wash hands immediately if skin contact occurs and in the occurrence that it enters the eyes, flush for 15 minutes with cold water and seek medical care. TPE solvent is a flammable material, so do not use around and open flame or with heated tools.

TPE Paste

Coeros also has a TPE paste in a glass jar that is small beads of TPE melted into TPE solvent to create a thicker consistency adhesive.
What is it?

TPE paste is a mixture of TPE solvent and TPE beads that slightly dissolve once put into the solvent, but then re-harden, or cure to make a gel-like consistency paste. The color of the paste depends on the tint of the TPE beads that are mixed with it. This is so that it will match the skin tone of the TPE sex doll to minimize the appearance of the repairs. This is used for more serious, larger, and deeper vaginal repairs. Since TPE Paste contains TPE solvent, it is also a chemical known to cause respiratory system harm if proper ventilation techniques and equipment are not used. Coeros’ brand TPE Paste here.

How to Use

TPE paste typically does not come with a brush, so a small, thin metal spatula or tool is best used for repairs requiring it. Working in small amounts at the inner-most area of the damaged area, apply a thin layer to the edges of the TPE, press together and repeat until the entire area is bonded. This can also be done if you are needing to add TPE to a more seriously damaged area. You can apply the paste to the edges of the new TPE and the damaged edges of the TPE sex doll’s vaginal cavity, holding the new TPE in place, or setting it with sewing pins and working to the surface of the doll body. TPE paste also requires between 12 and 24 hours to fully cure. It is best to not interact with your doll during the cure time.

Warnings

Just like with the TPE solvent, TPE paste is highly flammable so do not use near an open flame or with heated tools. Make sure the area you are working in is well-ventilated and that you are wearing a proper protective face mask. Nitrile gloves are optional, but still recommended. Wash hands immediately if TPE paste comes in contact with skin and if it enters the eyes, flush with cold water for 15 minutes.

3M 94 Primer

3M 94 Primer is a more popular repair adhesive in the TPE sex doll community. Image courtesy of Jeaton LTD.
What is it?

3M 94 Primer is originally used for automotive detailing applications. But a group of members on TDF have found a way to use it as a TPE paste, or cold weld. Like TPE Solvent and TPE Paste, the 3M 94 Primer contains chemicals that are harmful to the respiratory system and again, proper ventilation techniques and equipment are mandatory when using this product. It also should be noted that even PPE equipment for hands, such as nitrile gloves, should be used when using this product to protect the hands. The chemicals in question are xylene, ethyl benzene, ethyl alcohol, ethyl acetate, acrylate, polymer, chlorinated polyolefin, cyclohexane, and epoxy resin. 3M 94 Primer can be found in local hardware stores or online retailers such as Amazon.

How to Use

Apply a small amount at the deepest part of the damaged vaginal area using a toothpick. You do not want to use too much of this product, as it can and will cause further damage to your TPE sex doll if overused. Work in small sections, pressing and holding the damaged edges together and holding for 5 minutes. You can also apply using a Q-tip by rolling it over the damaged area, or with a cloth that has absorbed 70% isopropyl alcohol via a light blotting method. Once applied and set, it is recommended to mist the area lightly with baby oil, blot off excess and lightly powder before allowing it to cure over the course of several hours.

Warnings

This is also a highly flammable solution and should not be used near an open flame or with heated tools. Use extreme caution when working with this product. Proper ventilation, protective eye equipment, a ventilation mask and nitrile gloves are highly recommended when using this product during the repair process. Please see 3M’s Material Safety Data Sheet here.

Hot Knife / Soldering Pen and Woodburning Tools

What is it?

A hot knife and a soldering pen are identical in appearance; however, they serve different purposes when used for their primary purpose.

A hot knife is an X-Acto blade attached to a heating mechanism that allows it to make thermal cuts while also shaping and sealing various synthetic materials ( Visit MM Newman’s website for more information here. )

Soldering pens are primarily used to solder parts together in quantities of two or more, such as electronic components ( Engineering Choice has excellent information here as well.) Both have thin metal heated rods in which different sized metal bits can be inserted at the end for different jobs. For a TPE sex doll vagina repair, you are going to want to use a flat ended bit, for the best chance of a smooth repair.

A woodburning tool with flat ended bits also falls into this category and will work very well and you can read more about them here.

How to Use

Depending on the severity of the damage and how extensive the repair will be, you should try to use the lowest temperature possible on these heating tools. 120°F to 200°F is a good range in temperature when using heated tools on TPE.

When the hot knife, soldering pen, or woodburning tool have reached the desired temperature and after a very light layer of oil has been applied over the area, and I will discuss the oil as we talk about proper techniques, you will want to brush it very lightly over the sides of filler TPE as well as the edges of the damaged area. Brush gently and place the filler TPE into the vaginal tear and then continue to brush the edges together until the TPE is sealed and has a smooth appearance.

Warnings

Work in a well-ventilated area, away from open flames and flammable materials, utilizing proper use of protective ventilation masks and heat resistant gloves. TPE becomes toxic and releases toxic fumes into the air at around 300°F. It is not advised to heat the hot knife, soldering pen or woodburning tool past this temperature and purchasing one with a temperature dial is strongly advised, or use a thermometer gun set on a “object” to get an accurate temperature reading.

Heat Gun

Tool maker, Milwaukee, is a popular brand for heat guns. Image courtesy of HomeDepot.
What is it?

A heat gun is a tool used to direct and focus heat onto surfaces, such as frozen pipes, wallpaper, carpets, etc. The purpose of the heat gun is to sculpt, quick dry, melt, mold, repair, etc. For repairing a TPE sex doll vagina, the melt and sculpt choices are used. The heat gun is shaped like a gun and comes with different styles of attachments for however you need to direct the heat. They can be gas-powered or electric, wireless, or wired with adjustable temperature ranges from 100°F to 600°F. Machinery Judge has more information on what a heat gun is, what it is used for and how to properly use it on their website.

How to Use

Point the nozzle of the heat gun directly over the damaged area of the TPE sex doll vagina you wish to manipulate once the desired temperature has been reached. Press down on the trigger of the heat gun and heat the area until the TPE is a buttery and slightly melted texture. Then you can use a flat edge metal spatula or other flat edge tool to smooth, bond and blend the damaged edges together. This is also good for when a vaginal damage is so extensive, that new TPE needs to be molded into the area and bonded to the edges of the damaged area. You do not necessarily need to lightly oil the area where the heat is applied because heated metal will not come in direct contact with the TPE. What happens with the heat gun is that hot air is being blown onto the surface area and the risk of a burn is not as high as when a hot knife, soldering pen or woodburning tool are used.

Warnings

Do not use near flammable materials or an open flame, utilize proper use of heat resistant gloves and protective ventilation masks and work in a well-ventilated area. Please remember that TPE releases toxic fumes at 300°F, so setting the temperature dial on the heat gun to safer and cooler temperatures is a must.

Protective Face Mask

This painter’s mask protects the respiratory system and the face from harm while working with the solvents and hot tools used for TPE sex doll repairs. Image courtesy of Banggood.
What is it?

The protective face mask, or painter’s ventilation mask is mandatory when working with hot tools, 3M 94 Primer, TPE Paste and TPE. It will protect your respiratory system from the chemicals released into the air when repairs are being made. This is only achieved when the mask is worn properly and for the entire duration of the repair process.

How to Use

Following the instructions that come with the Protective Face Mask/Painter’s Ventilation Mask, make sure it is fitted properly over the mouth and nose once you put it on by adjusting the head straps. Filters must be installed and replaced as needed and make sure the respiration knob is turned to where you can adequately breathe.

*IMPORTANT NOTE*: Before repairing a TPE sex doll, make sure you thoroughly clean the damaged area and the area around the repair, otherwise the repairs made will not hold and any dirt, oil, grime, etc., will permanently be adhered to the TPE sex doll. Isopropyl alcohol is not recommended if you are using a heat method for repairs. Baby and mineral oil are recommended for all repairs, as is a light soapy water mixture for cleaning before and after repairs are completed.

The Importance of Learning Proper Technique

Practice

If you want to become and expert at something, you need more than just knowledge; you must practice in order to become proficient and skilled. Spare pieces of TPE can be purchased through a vendor, or through Coeros’ online repair store. Spare TPE, or TPE Samples are a safe and inexpensive way to practice your repair technique in addition to utilizing them in actual repairs when the need arises.

When talking about the hot knives, soldering pens and woodburning tools, I mentioned the need to lightly oil the area before working on the damaged vaginal area. This oil is necessary to keep the area well lubricated and reduce the risk of burning the TPE and leaving char marks.

Repair vs. Replacement

Repair

Repairing your TPE sex doll should be the absolute first option upon discovering damage to the vaginal area. You can read this article or browse the Doll Modifications, Repair & Maintenance thread on TDF with tons of advice from experienced individuals on how to repair your TPE sex doll. However, there are also people in the doll community who specialize in doll repairs and can easily be found on the doll forums, should you wish for someone else to complete repairs for you.

Torn labia and torn or perforated vaginal cavities are the most common types of TPE sex doll vaginal damage. Labia, with it being on the outside, or surface of the TPE sex doll, is easier to repair than inside the actual vaginal cavity, unless you are having to completely rebuild and sculpt the labia itself. TPE ball dislodging’s are also a type of damage that must be repaired quickly, as when that happens, water (cleaning) and sexual bodily fluids can gain access to the metal skeleton causing a buildup of dangerous mold, bacteria, mildew, and a rusted and broken-down skeleton. This is a mandatory repair also due to the fact that the TPE ball sits at the back of the vaginal cavity sealing off the cavity and providing a barrier between the glans of the penis and the metal skeleton inside. When it dislodges or becomes damaged, it must be repaired right away.

Replacement

Many TPE sex doll owners will tell you that total replacement is the last thing they want to do. This is not only because it is expensive to do so, but also because many of us grow emotional bonds and attachments to our sex dolls. Yet there are still others that are all too happy to pay the expense of completely replacing a damaged TPE sex doll.

If a TPE sex doll endures multiple repairs that are no longer able to be repaired, or the damage is so severe that repairs are not an option, then a total replacement is warranted as well. This is a very strong reason why taking the best care of your TPE sex doll is advised.

Testimonials

I interviewed some members on TDF and a sex doll Discord server, as well as found useful testimonials on the various repair threads on TDF. Here is what they have had to say in reference to TPE sex doll vaginal repairs:

CL tells me that, “vagina repairs are more inconvenient than any other surface repairs,” and that he did not find the TPE solvent to be all that reliable; often on more intense vaginal tears the area would re-open, and repairs would need to be repeated. He also stated that the TPE solvent was difficult to work with, but found it worked better on even tears versus jagged ones.

Another member identified by the letter “I”, states that, “‘TPE Glue’ (Solvent) can only be used on repair spots without material tension. A repair made under material tension is causing the effect of enlarging.” This translates to an area that undergoes a lot of stress, or pressure, is more likely to become damaged more severely with subsequent use after using the TPE solvent in repairs.

L says they slowly fuse the TPE together in stages with a soldering iron / pen, as heat treated repairs stay fixed longer than simply using TPE solvent or TPE paste. John recommends using the 3M 94 Primer for his repairs to his TPE sex doll.

SM had to actually rebuild the labia on his TPE sex doll, by creating a labia mold and using heat treatments to melt spare TPE into the mold and then after removing the new labia, molding it onto the exterior opening of the vagina. He states that even with gentle use, the inner labia damage too easily.

SS, however, had better luck than most on his YL doll. He tells us that once a repair has been completed using TPE glue, that pressing the legs together to close the vagina after slowly sealing the tear from the deepest point to the outer edge and allowing it to fully cure has worked for him.

RJ warns that for a repair on his TPE sex doll, even a small amount of the 3M 94 Primer caused the TPE on his sex doll to turn to a goo, thus making the damaged area enlarged, but Sete advised him that bringing the 3M 94 Primer to a thicker consistency eliminates the unfortunate setback and that it works differently on each different blend of TPE.

Still, others recommend the best tools to use to repair the vagina on a TPE sex doll is the hot knives, soldering pens, woodburning tools and the heat gun.
